September 26 2007 - Change your bookmark ... 26/09/2007 - A while ago, I started my DJ Ridoo project to combine the wonderful sound
of didgeridoo with all sorts off different musical styles.
During these years, I've met a lot of interesting people, played some great sets with
the didgeridoo (in harmony with techno, minimal, ambient, world music, ...), and even
featured on a CD project in Chili.

From all of these contacts, a lot of new projects developed but more and more involving
me as a musician, rather than a didgeridoo-player.

That's why I've chosen to do combine these projects as Steve Robbert, rather then have a
separate didgeridoo project running.

So in the very near future, you will be able to track my new projects and music on the new website
www.steverobbert.com

Thanks for all the support and the cool projects,
and see you on the other side...

Steve Robbert

july 31st 2007 - site update
Updated the site here and there.

I bought a Launeddas not so long ago, but I haven't had the chance to play/practice on it yet. I also bought a practice chanter to go along with the Launeddas.
Update on this later...

june 27 2007 - nothing to report, sir...
Hello *wave*, to all of my five readers.
Things have been a bit quiet on the didgeridoo front, except for some relaxationconcerts here and there. This is mostly because i'm fully concentracting on Mashta Uïrtu. Last studio sessions are going on and CD pressing will start soon.
I AM busy preparing for a new double didge-workshop though. This will be a workshop on saturday and another on sunday, one in Aalst and one in Stekene. more later...

Did a performance with the new rhythmic section of Sekwasa (see events).

Updated the event section.

february 17 2007 - Exhibition Eco Therapeutica
The past didgejam was very very great. Thanks to Pieter for providing a great presentation of his visit to Australia ! After my 3 days knock-out due to carnaval in my home city (renowned for it), I'll be planning a follow-up didgejam, so he can continue his presentation *snicker*

Next big event is the Eco Therapeutica in Brabanthal - Leuven. Last year this exhibition was really great and Sekwasa has been asked again to provide some dreamtimeconcerts and animation. Check here for all the info (dutch) and here for a chance to win a free ticket

januari 30 2007 - Didgejam
I'm planning a didgejam with the didgeclub on sunday februari the 4th 2007 in Aalst.

Dates for the new relaxationconcerts have been set. Check here or on www.relaxatieconcert.be

december 15 2006 - it's all so quiet

Didging has been so slow that I'm starting to have troubles playing at the relaxationconcerts. Imagine that O.õ Time to no longer say I don't have the time for it, but 'make' time for it. So there is my newyears resolution... more didging (i hope...).
This Christmas, after 3 years of work work work, I'll be going on a holiday .. I can't describe how much I need this.

Merry Christmas and a happy newyear, everyone.

november 14 2006 - On Sale : World Didgeridoo Vibes - Vol 1.

I'm now taking orders for the World Didgeridoo Vibes - Volume 1 CD.

october 17 2006 - workshops

I'm thinking about picking up on giving some workshops again and planning some dates.

october 3 2006 - World Didgeridoo Vibes - Vol 1.

The CD of the Pitt project has arrived : World Didgeridoo Vibes - Vol 1.

Sadly, but understandable, only one song of mine has been chosen to be on the CD. I think the response to the CD-project was more than they had hoped for and probably had to make a tight selection in the songs.
I'll keep you up to date when I have the CD available for order (soon).
Find a teaser of the CD song and the complete unselected song in the media section.

august 29 2006 - didgejam *cancelled*

I'm organizing a didgejam on the 10th of september. Check here for more info.*cancelled*

Songs for the pitt project are coming along nicely. One song is finished and I need one more recording for the second one. I'm not sure I'll be able make a third one, but I'll try. Sneak previews of the songs will be posted in the media section soon.

august 25 2006 - didgavaganza

If you haven't heard it already (in belgium) - and I really really think you have - there's a BIG didgemeeting in Lanaken. For a TV-show, the citizens of Lanaken have 1 week to turn their city into Australia, with for example a big aussie bbq and they must have 300 didge-players there. Three-hundred !! That is going to be so awesome ! (At first I wasn't able to go, but it seems I'm getting to go after all !)

Recordings for the pitt project went a bit awkward, but the songs are coming along nicely. Deadline is august 31st though, so I'll have to hurry :)

june 26 2006 - Forum and then some

Le Newvoh Forum at arrived :) You can now all spew your thought, remarks, suggestions, ideas, kudos, synonyms, projects, theories on it...
You can find it through the link to your right.

In other news : Spastic Plastique (aka Pitt) [http://www.myspace.com/yooralla] made contact with me for a nonprofit recording-project with a bunch of other didgeridoo musicians. Of course I hopped on the wagon. I'll be making some new songs for him, probably some didge-solo's and some with electro/minimal and djembe or other rhythms.

juli 6 2006 - Look, is it a plane? Is it a bird? No, it's a month...

In the events section, you should have seen there was another exhibition in Antwerp (Antwerp Expo) [wasn't in event section though]. Boy oh boy what a jif...
Now, by now we've been in quite some expo's all over the country, and I was looking forward to be able to play in the Antwerp Expo.. But it's proven again that the building named 'expo' has definitely nothing to do with the people who organize exhibitions.
Example : there were three corridors in the expo-hall, made from *tatadum* 2 meter high cardboard placed in a zigzag (so it wouldn't fall down) !!
The whole set-up reeked off professionallity *sarcasm off*.
Anyway, it was a quick in&out with a teaser concert and left *shrug*.

june 2 2006 - personal

no updates and nothing happening at the moment, since I'm working hard (7/7) on a new home and we're about to move into it (finally). More later ...

april 21 2006 - About time too

Holy macaroni.
I guess an update was WAY overdue :) Not much happening though. There is an upcoming exhibition in Kortrijk.
In other news, I'm strongly considering making contact with DJ Christrian Thomas again to pickup our minimal project. I've also had contact with BenZen and talked about a possible partnership... so we'll see in the near future..

februari 6 2006 - A lesson well learned

Turn up for the workshop was a bit disappointing, but it's my own fault in the end.
I didn't do my own advertising, mail-sending and promotion, so I can only blame myself :) Oh well, no harm done. Next one will come soon enough...

On march 12th, there will be a jam near the coastline of belgium (Koksijde).
Check more details here (if you're english, just post and we'll inform you in english). Check events as well...

januari 20 2006 - Workshop

A late happy new year and all that...
I've got plenty of new dates of all sorts of activities, which I'll be adding later, but most important event is : a new workshop date. februari 5th !! Check out here for into (dutch).

Because I've had a lot of personal contact with people asking about a new workshop, there's a great chance that I'll be doing an extra workshop shortly thereafter, for the people that were left out of the loop... so check back often if you were too late registering for the workshop (which I advise you to do :)
Go to the contact section to send a mail for registering.

december 14 2005 - Small Update

Just updated the events section. There's not a lot planned at the moment, but that's mostly because of coming new year and all .. Normally, in January, there will be new relaxation concerts, I will be doing workshops didgeridoo (beginner).
If all goes well, I'll also be starting my encausting painting, which I've come to know and love. More on that later...

november 22 2005 - Look up "busy" in the dictionary

...and you'll find my photo next to it. I decided to do a little update, since it has been so long. The kids and last changes to our new home have taken up most of my time, but that didn't keep me from going to the khoomii workshop (see below).

The workshop was given by Michael Ormiston & Candida Valentino -who, after some online researched, seemed to be well known in the throathsinging scene!.

I now know there is a difference between Khoomii (mongolian) and khoomei (tuvan)!! Normally, I was set to learn sygyt (tuvan) but instead was thought shahaltai (mongolian), which is about the same in technique and sound, except that in sygyt the base-drone is almost completely soundless. I guess i'll be searching for a khoomei workshop someday...

Funny enough, I continued to search on the internet for more information and soundbytes on khoomii and came across an mp3 khoomei course. Using this, I learned the Kargyraa style on my own :). I didn't get confirmation of a throatsinger about what I'm doing, but I know and feel that I'm doing the right thing .. quite exciting and sounds great :)

Meanwhile, we (the relaxation team) have done another exhibition and will be doing another really soon.
The second concert is almost finished, and recordings of the first one are on their way to be done real soon.

After some months, I finally made some time to do another didgejam as well. I love these, but sadly enough I'll have to pass up on the next few ones :/

september 30 2005 - New website

My my, a lot has happened these past few months. I've been SO busy in my personal life (new home, new kids), I haven't had the chance to update the website.

Ever since I came in contact with the didgeclub, we've been playing a lot together and it's a LOT of fun and very educational in means off learning new rhythms and such.

Meanwhile, we're working on a second version of our relaxation concert so we can switch between the two concerts to give the regular audience something new.

I've been completely overwhelmed by the Fujara and I AM going to buy one for sure. While saving up for a real one, I've bought an overtone flute (in .sk known as shepherd flute) so I can practice a bit with the breathing and the tones. This flute is about 30cm/11" has only 1 hole for 1 addition note, but can play up to 5/6 different octaves with air pressure. It sounds great, but nothing compared to a Fujara, of course I've already experimented in making an overtone flute myself (of about 1m/39") and it actually worked :)

Next to this, am I also enrolled in an workshop Khoomii (Tuvan overtone singing), scheduled on the 8th october, so I can learn to sing khoomii. I'm going especially to learn sygyt.

Yep, busy busy busy ;)

Oh yeah... I would almost forget :) I've given the website a new look. The old look didn't work form me anymore .. there was something wrong with it. Ohwell, hope you like the new interface.

june 20 2005 - Update website

Updated website.
Had a fun didgejam yesterday

may 30 2005 - Didge workshop

Finally, after a long time again some way overdue didge lessons (semi-advanced).
I enrolled in a bunch of semi-advanced didge lessons given by Goanna to learn to play some faster rhythms and especially the breathing that goes along with it. As from lesson two, I was already pleased with the lessons as my breathing picked up the pace. Me happy now !
For the future, there are some relaxationconcerts (new link) scheduled and the forest festival is coming up, so time do some practicing. Combined with me new didge-skills, I think I'm gonna like it *grin*.
Check MEDIA section for some dotpaintings I did on artpad.

april 4 2005 - New relaxation concert

The Didgejam in Antwerp was cool. Tastes for more ... I got to know the Fujara. The person who played it -and played it VERY well I must add- got me really really interested in it. Even to such a degree that I'm considering postponing my purchase of another didgeridoo and buying a Fujara instead... but we'll see... we'll see :)
May 15th, there will be another relaxation concert. see events

march 25 2005 - Updated website

Some more webstuff added (even some you don't see *grins*)
